Brief Introduction

Initiated as a member country in 1986, DPI Korea has been working hard towards introducing various rights and issues within in Korea. โ€œDisability and Human Rightsโ€™, a concept that is widely used throughout the country, is a case example of DPI Koreaโ€™s work.

DPI Korea is active in six locations: Seoul, Incheon, Gangwon, Daegu, Gyeongnam, Jeju and is expanding into other regions. DPIโ€™s main work involves complete participation in the society and increased awareness of human rights. Activities include:

  • Improved Understanding of the Situation: Computer Training for Disabled People, Disabled Peoplesโ€™ Movie Expo
  • Improved Understanding of Living: Program for Disability, Womenโ€™s Academy of Disability, Sae-nal Library
  • Research: 10-Year Symposium on Asia-Pacific Disabled People
  • Publication: NewsletterInternational Cooperation: Sapporo Convention / Korea-China Cooperation Scheme
