Brief Introduction

National Coordinating Committee on Disability of Vietnam (NCCD) was established in January 2001 under the Decision of the Minister of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA). Presently NCCD includes 28 members from 17 ministries and agencies, 2 organizations for and 3 organizations of persons with disabilities.

The NCCD promotes the implementation of objectives related to disability issues by relevant Ministries and agencies. In particular, in the last 5 years, NCCD has been promoting the implementation of 7 priority areas in the Biwako Millennium Framework for Action (BMF) and BMF + 5 and also the National Action Plan on Disability. The NCCD raises awareness on disability issues, the BMF and the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, gives recommendations on the modification of policies, standards and regulations on disabled persons and coordinates programs and resources in support to persons with disabilities in funding and technical support, works on resolutions from the United Nations, UNESCAP and other regional and international organizations to advocate and disseminate information to relevant agencies and organizations of and for persons with disabilities, works to develop a monitoring and evaluation tool (M&E) for the implementation of Biwako Millennium Framework for Actions (BMF) and the National Action Plan on Disable Persons in period of 2006 ? 2010 and promotes the national organizations for people with disabilities of Vietnam.
