25 member Delegate of NADPO including Bangladesh Protibandhi Kallyan Somity (BPKS) meet with the Honorable Prime Minister

There are 25 member delegate of NADPO including Bangladesh Protibandhi Kallyan Somity (BPKS) meet with the Honorable Prime Minister and submitted to following 14 proposal to her for implementation.

  1. Reserve 15 seats in the National Parliament including reserved seat at every steps of local government for the persons with disabilities.
  2. Adoption of the UN CRPD at the National parliament and preparation of new laws & amendment of existing laws to ensure implementation of the UN CRPD.
  3. Establish a new Ministry to coordinate the application and implementation of different policies including UN CRPD. Employ an appropriate person with disability in this post with the supporting of disable Peoples organizations.
  4. Allocation of 1% money of National Budget to the disabled peoplesโ€™ organization for the implementation of development activities of persons with disabilities. Utilize 50% of allocated money of the National Disability Development Foundation through the disable peoplesโ€™ organization for the development activities for the implementation of development activities of persons with disabilities. Reformation of National Disability Development Foundation as an independent organization including ensuring 50% participation of representatives of disabled peoples organization in its management committee
  5. Appoint one person with disability as an adviser to the prime Minister and at least one appropriate person with disability member in the Human Rights commission with the discussion with the representatives of disabled peoplesโ€™ organizations.
  6. Ensure the services and opportunities for the persons with disabilities with priority in all development activities, all housing projects of the government including all other services.
  7. Permanently allocate 33 decimal of government land in the name of disabled peoplesโ€™ organizations in all sub-district.
  8. Barred the discrimination which is the hinder of persons with disabilities to be recruited in the Bangladesh Cadre Service and ensure the implementation of service quota for the persons with disabilities in government and non-government organization.
  9. Provide guideline to the NGO Affairs bureau to ease the laws and regulations of the registration, control and receive of foreign aid by disabled peoplesโ€™ organizations. Otherwise these self-help disabled peoplesโ€™ organizations will lost its spirit and courage those are established for their and universal development. 15 million persons with disabilities in Bangladesh will suffer directly.
  10. Inclusion of two member in NGO affairs coordination committee and 50% members in UN CRPD implementation and monitoring committee from the representatives of disabled peoplesโ€™ organizations.
  11. Allow us the opportunity to share our opinion with the Prime Minister once in every six month. Assign one officer in your office so that we may able to communicate with you through him/her which will accelerate this programme.
  12. You have proposed a fund for the development of persons with disabilities in SAARC countries in the tenth SAARC meeting and your proposal was agreed by the all government. We highly encourage you to accelerate this great initiative for us.
  13. Include NADPO in every steps of government, donor organization and all other government authority as associate and adviser to ensure the rights and dignity of persons with disability including ensuring the participation of at least one member of NADPO in Prime Ministers foreign delegates. This was a bilateral meeting between the Government of Bangladesh and NADPO. We hope, the meeting will bring positive changes in near future.
