The Asian Federation on Intellectual Disabilities (AFID) is a registered body established in 1973 by Rev Father Malinwith its permanent Secretariat at Singapore. In 1988, SAMADHAN an NGO established in 1981 in New Delhi was elected as the National Representative of AFID for India and in 2011 at the last conference in Korea, the Founder-Director of SAMADHAN was elected as President of AFID. HenceSAMADHANis hosting the 21st conference of AFID in October 2013 in New Delhi.

The Conference seeks to provide a forum for sharing of best practices across the globe, welcoming new thinking and promoting participatory approaches to enable the communities and families of persons with intellectual disabilities.

The conference is held in India after 35 years and hence it is our chance to showcase our initiatives. With AFID membership spreading over 25 South Asian countries, an opportunity to interact, share and learn best practices, methodologies and innovative community outreach programmes with the international communities

Who will participate?

NGOs who are working in the field of intellectual disabilities, Medical Professionals, therapists, representatives of pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, manufacturers of rehabilitation aids, Parents, Special Schools, Special educators, persons with disabilities and representatives of government, corporates and social sector who are interested to be part of the development issues.

We invite stakeholders across the globe to participate in the conference and place the intellectual disability sector in the forefront of development issues of the world.
