Help shape the Network and its products join a Working Group

Dear Network Members,

The ILO Global Business and Disability Network is developing products and services identified by you in surveys, at meetings, in conversations with ILO staff and through the Strategic Plan developed by the Steering Committee.

To ensure that the products and services correspond to the needs of the Members, we would like to invite you or members of your staff with interest in the areas identified, to participate. The working groups will be very much like design teams or focus groups. Most will not involve considerable time, but your ideas and opinions are crucial to ensuring that we develop products and services that suit the needs of all

Right now we have the following Working Groups They are as follows:

1. Country-level information and laws: This group will develop a structure for presenting country-level information about disability issues, including a user-friendly approach to showcasing laws and other data points as part of the members-only pages of the ILO. (The member pages are under development and this information will be a key I attach Terms of Reference for that Working Group, which describes it in more detail and identifies the level of commitment and time involved.

3. Marketing: This working group will develop a marketing plan for engaging Network members. It is currently headed by Dow and Novartis.

Both are on the Steering Committee. Work has already been done related to defining the Network's products, but more development work will be forthcoming.

4. Self-Assessment and Skills Inventory: The self-assessment tool will be designed to assist companies and organizations evaluate their performance on various measures of disability inclusion according to international standards and good practice. The related skills inventory will identify skills, experiences and policies or programs that Network members possess and for which they are willing to share their expertise to help other members This is a new Working Group. This group is ongoing but new members are most welcome.

6. Webinars will become a major feature of the Network activities. As you know we have conducted two with the UN Global Compact and we will continue to partner with them and others to bring webinars to the Network members and others on a regular A Working Group is being organized and TORs are forthcoming. However, member input will be needed with regard to content, scheduling, possibly technical issues and others. The concept note for the webinar series is attached.

Only the first group has TORs, but it will be the practice to develop TORs for all new Working Group to assist you in deciding how you or your staff can participate. For now, we hope this information is sufficient so that you can decide how you or your staff can engage more directly in the Network.

We are anticipating that additional Working Groups will emerge in the new calendar year. Just send an email to businessanddisability@ilo.org ; tell us which group is of interest and give the name and contact information for the person involved.
