2010 International VSA arts Festival
From June 6โ12, 2010, VSAโthe international organization on arts and disabilityโwill bring together artists, educators, researchers, and policymakers with and without disabilities from around the world for a multicultural celebration of the arts and education. The Festival will feature a dazzling array of visual, performing, literary, and media artists. The guest list includes more than 2,000 people, including VSAโs network of U.S. and international affiliates, and audience members from all corners of the globe.
Performances and exhibitions will be showcased at various venues throughout Washington, D.C., including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Smithsonian Institution (American Art Museum, Discovery Theater, International Gallery), Shakespeare Theatre Company (Harman Hall and Lansburgh Theatre), Atlas Performing Arts Center, H Street Playhouse, George Washington Universityโs Lisner Auditorium, Union Station, U.S. Department of Education, DC Improv, and AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center.
Education conference
A primary goal of the Festival is to provide information and effective strategies that can be translated from theory to practice for use in the home, classroom, or community. VSA will convene an International Education Conference at the Grand Hyatt Washington, June 10โ12, 2010. The conference will focus on three areas: 21st-Century Learning, Inclusive Education, and Pathways to Employment. Keynote speakers will include Kenneth Eklindh of UNESCO, percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie, and noted author and arts educator Sir Ken Robinson.
