New course "WebForDevelopment, Social Media for Learning"

To evaluate the impact of social media in the field of learning and training, the International Training Centre of the ILO has the pleasure of announcing the opening of a course on "WebForDevelopment, Social Media for Learning" will take place in Turin between 21 and 25 June 2010 with an on-line phase before and after.

The rapid growth of social software or web 2.0 applications and supporting technologies (E.g. blogs, podcasts, wikis, social networking sites, social bookmarking, VoIP and P2P services), leads to the fact that the phenomena are also increasingly being used for learning purposes. As it enables different types of learning and training settings, it is an important driver of innovation in learning.

These interesting practices will be explored in a community of practice where participants with distinct interests meet each other across the world to improve their knowledge and efficient practice in this particular field of WebForDevelopment.

The course language will be English and registration is open to participants from Africa, Arab States, Asia, the Pacific, the CIS, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

During the course, participants will have the opportunity to discuss and experience issues and concepts related to the use social software for learning, always with a special focus on concrete practices available in developing countries
