Submission to the Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women's study on state responsibility for eliminating
the study of the Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women on state responsibility for eliminating violence against women ( http://www.ohchr.org/EN/Issues/Women/SRWomen/Pages/VAW.aspx )
Deadline 31 October 2012.
A submission from the Global Initiative to End All Corporal Punishment of Children to the study. The submission highlights that prohibiting and eliminating corporal punishment of girls and boys, in the home and elsewhere, is a key element of states' responsibility for eliminating violence against women. The legal and social acceptance of this most common form of violence against girls and boys directly hinders prevention of violence against women and contributes to a tolerance of violence in family relationships and in wider society
