WINZ programme to support young people with disabilities or health conditions into paid employment

Work and Income has begun a programme to support young people with disabilities or health conditions into paid employment.

The Opt In programme is for people aged 16-29 who receive the Supported Living Payment (SLP), who want to get a job or do some training or study. It is voluntary, and taking part or not does not affect benefit entitlements.

People who take part will be paired up with a Work and Income case worker who has experience working with people who have disabilities or health conditions, who will help them to decide on and achieve their goals.
