Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government will soon appoint Indonesia`s representatives in the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC) through a process to select the best candidates, a spokesperson said.

Each ASEAN member country will be represented by two persons in the commission, Sri Danti Anwar, deputy for gender affairs to the Wemen`s Empowerment Minister, said here Monday.

"A meeting (to select candidates for the positions) will be held on February 22-23," she said, adding the selection process would be conducted openly and transparently by a small committee consisting of relevant agencies including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

The meeting would also be participated in by the state ministry for women`s empowerment and children protection, Coordinating Ministry for People`s Welfare, Manpower and Transmigration Affairs Ministry, Social affairs Ministry and National Commission for Women Affairs and Commission for Indonesian Children Protection.
