The Development of Disabled Peoplesโ International Asia Pacific (DPIAP) regional office, 2008 -2009
Preamble
By building the organizational base of DPI/AP up to its current 25 national members in Asia Pacific region, with regional leadership and coordination, DPI/AP has proven itself as a catalyst for rising the voices of the most vulnerable and least heard. Through its self-help development programs and projects at regional and national level, DPI/AP has sought, and achieved, a considerable increase in the participation of persons with disability in their own social and economic development, as well as in that of their home countries. More importantly, it is by giving expression to the needs and priorities of persons with disabilities that so many other development initiatives are made increasingly responsive to the poorest of the poor. As with all projects developed and implemented by DPI/AP, the initial preparations for the project include a Baseline Study & Gender Analysis. This activity will gauge the capacity, strengths and challenges to engage in dialogue and work on disability issues. In addition, the Gender Analysis portion will determine the current degree of representation by women. DPI/AP will ensure that there will be full and equal participation of this sub-group within DPI/AP. Finally the best practices will be replicated to regional program.Download:
