International Day of Disabled Persons

Theme for the International Day of Disabled Persons in 2006 was "E-Accessibility". In accordance with this theme, DPI Member National Assemblies in our region took initiatives on IDDP observance in collaboration with GOs, IOs and civil society in order to ensure access to information and communication for the full participation and equality of persons with disabilities and to ensure disability inclusive development.

Especially, the improvement of access to information and communication in rural and remote area was emphasized. The International Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities was also targeted in their IDDP Observance for promoting the procedure towards signing/ratification by respective government and for the public awareness of the significance of the convention.
