YCCIโ€™s South Asian Regional Workshop for Peace Workshop, Katmandu, Nepal, June 8th โ€“ 14th 200

Youth have been always frontline fighters for change. Todayโ€™s youth are many ways deprived from opportunities and support. In order to see a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous south Asia, youth can play very important and positive role.

A movement for peace and sustainable development in the region requires a new generation of peace activists and development workers.

Youth Coordination Center International (YCCI) in cooperation with ARF โ€“ AMAN has been organizing Youth for Peace Training Workshop both in South, South East Asia since 2004. Recently it has organized the Youth for Peace Training Workshop in the Middle East which will continue annually.

Goal: To create a new generation of young peace builders towards peace, harmony and sustainable development in Asia.

Objectives:

- To enable youth from this multi-ethnic multi-cultural and multi- religious region to come together to know each other, share hopes, aspirations and experiences and articulate their vision for peace.

- To help them gain knowledge and deepen their understanding about the region, the realities and challenges.

- To facilitate collective learning process about understanding the causes of conflict, ways and means to transform conflict and build sustainable peace.

- To strengthen โ€œYouth for Peace Net-workโ€ in South Asia

Number of participants: 30

Criteria for selection:

- Below 25 years of age

- Socially engaged

- Potential to be trainer and possessive of leadership quality

- Balance in religious, ethnic, rural and urban distribution

- Able to communicate in English
