Pakistan: Job opportunity at SPO - one seat reserved for PWDs

The mission of Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) is to strengthen and support community organizations and public interest institutions of Pakistan for the benefit of poor and disadvantaged sections of society for sustainable development through a participatory approach. Its democratic governance, social justice and peace and social harmony programmes in more than fifty districts across the country during 2009 and 2013, look forward to achieve enhanced capacity of its partners in the areas of governance and human rights, particularly economic and social rights, with increased levels of accountability and transparency.

SPO works nationwide out of seventeen permanent and project offices and has capacitated more than 3000 community organisations and local body institutions, 56 rights-based civil society networks and provided training services to other UN, governmental and non-governmental organisations. Its partners have worked in the areas of education, health, women's empowerment, livelihood support, political awareness and humanitarian relief.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting(MER) Manager(one position, Islamabad based)

Reporting to the Head of MER, s/he will be responsible for ensuring that the program deliverers the best possible results to SPO's partners through effective periodic assessments, monitoring and program evaluations according to established M&E framework.

The prerequisites are a master's degree in Social Sciences with at least six years experience in supporting development programmes in designing and implementation of their own M&E systems and donor reporting and liaison. Highly desirable are knowledge of participatory approaches to development design, Project management systems (monitoring, evaluation, logical frame and indicators), budget tracking, information systems and databases (MIS) and a good understanding of current political and development challenges.

Strong communication skills in English and Urdu, report writing and IT skills.

Gender and Social Policy Specialist (one positions, Islamabad based)

Reporting to the Head of Technical Support, s/he will be responsible for providing proactive thematic support in gender and social policy issues to all SPO program staff across Pakistan. The main responsibilities include: identifying key gender and social policy issues relevant to SPO's programme, conducting or commissioning research and sharing the key findings with internally and with all stakeholders, develop position papers and producing analytical reports.

The prerequisites are a master's degree in Social Sciences or Development Studies with at least five years of relevant experience in development sector, knowledge and practical experience in policy analysis, human rights, democratic principles; sound macro-economic management; good governance including accountability.

Strong communication skills in English and Urdu, report writing and IT skills including MS-Word and InPage. Highly desirable are English language proficiency and a good understanding of current political and development challenges.

Finance Officer (one position for women only, Islamabad based)

Reporting to the Manager Finance, She will be responsible for providing support in maintaining and reporting SPO's Accounts in accordance with the compliance mechanisms.

The prerequisites are CMA, M.Com or equivalent with at least three years of experience in accounting and financial management in a nonprofit sector. Working knowledge of accounting software, financial reporting and strong communication skills are essential for this job.

Program Officer Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (one positions, Lahore Based)

Reporting to the Regional Program Manager/Head, s/he will be responsible implementing MER systems in the region according to SPO's MER framework and for timely updation of Learning Information System (LIS).Main activities include: programme monitoring, updation of MIS, analytical report writing and case study writing.

The prerequisites are a master's degree in a social science subject with at least three years of adequate working knowledge of monitoring, evaluation and reporting., strong communication skills in English and Urdu, report writing and IT skills including MS-Word and InPage. Highly desirable are English language proficiency and a good understanding of current political and development challenges.

Program Officer ( 02 positions: One each in Karachi and Hyderabad)

Reporting to the Program Specialist, s/he will assist in carrying out field level activities with partner organizations. Main activities include community mobilization, trainings delivery, field monitoring and running advocacy campaigns.

The prerequisites are a master's degree in a social science subject with two years and a bachelor's degree with at least three years of relevant experience in development sector, strong communication skills in Urdu, report writing and IT skills including MS-Word and InPage. Highly desirable is a good understanding of current political and development challenges.

Administration Associate (01 position, based in Lahore)

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Officer, S/he will support in various administrative functions including vehicle, inventory, procurement and general services administration. Other responsibilities include the upkeep of office building, management of residential facility within office premises, logistical support in events and maintaining staff attendance and leave records.

The prerequisites are a bachelor's degree with at least two years of relevant experience of general administration in a non profit environment.

Front Desk Associate (one position, based in Karachi, only for Physically Disabled Persons PDAs)

Reporting to the Officer/Associate Administration, s/he will operate the telephone exchange, keep track of the incoming and outgoing calls, manage the mail system and handle the reception.

The prerequisites are strong interpersonal skills, language proficiency both in English and Urdu, computer literacy and mobility across the country. Knowledge of relevant regional languages is highly desirable.
