Visually impaired woman becomes Revenue Officer in Jharkhand

Overcoming her physical disability, Ranju Kumari a visually impaired woman, has become a State Revenue Officer in Jharkhand.

Ranju, belonging to a middle class family, has demonstrated that physical deformity does not prevent one to achieve what one wants.

โ€œWhen I passed my secondary examination, I decided that I wanted to become a magistrate as my grandfather inculcated it in my mind. It was then that I decided to do post graduation first and thereafter I opted for this profession,โ€ Ranju said.

After passing her Doctorate degree Ranju learnt computers and also tried her luck in Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Examination in 2006, but was barred, as she was visually impaired.

However, it did not deter her from pursuing her career, as after overcoming the legal issues, the Government allowed her to join as State Revenue Officer in Jharkhand.

Deputy Commissioner of Commercial Tax Department, Vinay Kumar Singh, said that Ranju was assigned work where she was expected to read and write.

โ€œWe have assigned Ranju just official work of reading and writing. She is also doing work of passing orders. She will work successfully thatโ€™s what we are expecting from Ranju,โ€ Singh said. (ANI)
