Shura Council Holds Session

Manama, Mar. 8. (BNA) The Shura Council today congratulated the Bahraini Woman on the occasion of the World Woman Day, lauding her major contributions in all fields.

In this context, they praised His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's care and patronage of Bahraini women and HM King's unprecedented keenness to grant them full rights in recognition for the major role they play in the kingdom's political development. In a statement released on this occasion, the Council took pride in Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka, Wife of HM the King and the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Chairwoman's continuous support for the social role of the Bahraini woman and the consolidation of her economic and political contributions. In this regard, the Council vowed its willingness to further boost and empower Bahraini woman through enacting the needed woman-related legislations. This came as the Shura Council today held its regular weekly session under the chairmanship of the Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh. During the session, the Council was briefed on the the Representatives Council Chairman Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani's letter concerning the Representatives Council's decision regarding the amendment of some articles of Law 24/2004 accompanying Royal Decree 90/2009 on GCC Nationals' economic activities in the kingdom. Next, the Council discussed articles 8 and 18 of the Customs Cooperation Council of 1950 accompanying Royal Decree 84/2009. After that, the Council discussed the second complementary report regarding issuing Labour Law accompanying Royal Decree 45/2006. Then, the Services Committee's rapporteur Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa read the committee's report concerning the amendment of some articles of Law 74/2006 on the protection, rehabilitation and employment of the disabled, which doubles the disabled's monthly allowances from BD50 to BD100. He noted that the Committee approved the law as it ameliorates the conditions of these people. In this context, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh congratulated the disabled on behalf of the Council members, asserting that the two houses of parliament in Bahrain fully support them. He also appreciated the efforts exerted by the Social Development Ministry, led by Minister Dr. Fatima Al Balushi, to further upgrade the services provided for the disabled in the kingdom.
