The Fiji Disabled Peoples Association is not haooy with the rising number of PWDs who are beggars

The Fiji Disabled Peoples Association is not happy with the rising number of disabled people who are begging in public.

Association Director Akuila Rewatabua told FBC News it is now becoming a trend for people with disabilities to beg on the streets.

"The Fiji disabled peoples association is not happy with the trend that has taken place โ€“ disability should not be a barrier to success - success is within if you take the first step and make the right choices, you will be successful in life."

Rewatabua is calling on disabled people who are begging as a source of income to refrain from doing so.

"I would like to plea to them to stop begging on the streets and those families who probably encourage them to beg. I would also like to plead with them if they can encourage their disabled relatives to use their potential, that they have they have other potential, rather than begging on the streets."
