DPIAP Regional Assembly

A Voice Of Our Own: Following the Founding Spirits of DPI

Disabled Peoples’ International Asia-Pacific (DPI AP) Regional Assembly is coming very soon, on 23-24 May, 2016, in Tokyo, Japan. Mr. Eita Yashiro, Honorary Regional Chairperson of DPI AP and one of the founders of Disabled Peoples’ International, will deliver a keynote speech on the first day.

Mr. Yashiro who was elected asthe first DPI AP Regional Chairperson in 1981 is expected to share a historical background and the founding sprits of DPI: A Voice of Our Own. His message must encourage younger generations of DPI AP in Asia and the Pacific and reaffirm the importance of unity and continuity of the movement across the generations.

Mr. Yashiro is a former member of the House of Representatives and Councilorsof Japan for 28 years until 2005. He was also appointed to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications in 1999 and 2000.
