Uzbeks come to Enfield

ENFIELD Council played host to a delegation

ENFIELD Council played host to a delegation from Uzbekistan last week as Deputy Mayor Cllr Pamela Adams, and representatives from the Health and Adult Social Care department welcomed a 14 strong Ministerial visit from Uzbekistan.

The Uzbeks visited the borough so they could learn more about Enfieldโ€™s nationally recognised work with disabled adults.

The delegation had the opportunity to receive formal presentations on the Councilโ€™s learning from Supporting Independent Living for Disabled Adults as recognised through the achievement of a Beacon Award and being MJ Award Finalists.

The delegation also found out about increasing public awareness and formation of positive images of disability.

The Uzbeks also visited Park Avenue Disability Resources Centre to meet service users and staff.

Cllr Pamela Adams, Deputy Mayor of Enfield said โ€œIt was wonderful to welcome the delegation from Uzbekistan to Enfield last week.

โ€œTheir Deputy Minister said that they had heard from Government representatives in Britain about our Best Practice, but last week they came to Enfield to experience it first hand.โ€
