Nation proud of police for sacificing living in war on terror

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi has said that the nation was proud of personnel of law enforcement agencies, who sacrificed their lives during war against terror.

Addressing a seminar on โ€˜Disability and Workforceโ€™ jointly organised by a monthly โ€˜Pakistan Specialโ€™ and the International Labour Organisation (ILO), he said that the whole nation salutes them for their valour and commitment for not hesitating in rendering sacrifices to protect their motherland. He also praised those who suffered crippling injuries during terrorist attacks.

After the seminar, shields were awarded to disabled personnel of the Islamabad Police.

Earlier addressing the seminar, Inspector General of Police (Islamabad) Syed Kaleem Imam revealed that 41 police personnel embraced martyrdom in acts of terrorism and more than 100 suffered crippling injuries.

He said special people are our asset. They are intelligent and bold people and we need to encourage them.

During the course of the seminar, the disabled people raised certain issues like issuance of driving licenses, problems during travelling and unemployment.

Syed Kaleem Imam assured them about issuance of driving licenses and also acquire a special vehicle for their driving test. He also offered free facilities to special people at the Police Gymnasium as well as to teach them driving and asked them to inform police helpline immediately whenever they face any problem.

In his opening remarks, Chief Editor Pakistan Special Farhat Abbas said that the function has been arranged to mark 10th anniversary of the magazine and to encourage security personnel.

Later, Deputy Speaker Faisal Karim Kundi presented a cheque for Rs100,000 to the IGP on behalf of the Utility Stores Corporation for the welfare of disabled police personnel.

During the function, children from Kashmir Institute of Special Education presented Naโ€™at and a tableau.

Later talking to journalists, Faisal Karim Kundi said that during his meeting with the prime minister he will raise the issue of quota for special persons in the National Assembly.

Responding to a query, he said, โ€œScores of police personnel in NWFP have laid down their lives for the homeland and hundreds are injured or disabled. Let us also encourage them by arranging such programmes in the province.โ€

Kundi promised two disabled brothers that they would be given jobs. They had made a request to the deputy speaker during the seminar.
