Duphat Presents an exclusive session on pharmacovigilance during its second day

DUPHAT Conference and Exhibition commenced today at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre with large participation by Pharmacists, drug manufacturers and suppliers who are interested in the latest updates in the Pharmaceutical field.

DUPHAT 2010 spots the light on the current topics of interest in pharmaceutical science. Distinguished Speakers from US, Europe, Canada, Australia and Middle East, specializing in Pharmacy Practice, Academics and Research are presenting the latest perspectives and expertise on pharmaceutical science in the 3 โ€“ day program.

Prestigious speakers and chairpersons coming from different cultures and backgrounds aim for common goals; to share their expertise and contribute meaningfully to the pharmacy profession. They represent the elite pharmacy professionals at the international level.

DUPHAT 2010 will also feature an exclusive one-day session on Pharmacovigilance with 3 presentations and 2 workshops. As in previous years, DUPHAT 2010 will feature 3 Managerial Skills workshops. In addition, there are ten local schools of Dubai taking part at the conference to give it an overall community perspective. Their exhibits, posters and student individual posters apart from cultural presentations provide an added dimension to the conference activities.

Dr. Ali Al Sayed โ€œDUPHAT is a conference that intends to meet the interests of pharmacists from hospitals and community pharmacies, professionals from the pharma-industry, marketing professionals, researchers, academics, scientists, biotech experts, clinicians, students and other healthcare professionals.โ€

Dr. Ali also said that DUPHAT Conference discussed during the first day a number of interesting topics in pharmacy such as; Medication safety in US hospital and health โ€“ System Pharmacy, Control of influenza H1N1 and the role of the pharmacist, and the role of pharmacists in safe and efficient pharmacotherapy. The topics were discussed by eminent speakers from Japan, United States, Egypt and Lebanon. A specialised exhibition in pharmacy is running in conjunction with the conference with more than 300 regional and international pharmaceutical companies on board.

On the other hand, REHAB Forum is running along with DUPHAT, and is held this year under the motto โ€œBeyond Inclusion and Partnershipโ€. The conference brings together international key specialists in the field of disability and rehabilitation to discuss the latest developments and updates in this particular field, while highlighting the role of inclusion which is considered a major objective and challenge.

REHAB focuses this year on the importance of the disabled and the role they can play in the society. Mr. Kahled El Mohtar, President โ€“ National Rehabilitation & Development Centre said โ€œRehabilitation has been a very interesting topic and had lots of attention during the past decade. We seek through REHAB 2010 that we contribute in Changing the Prevailing thinking and negative attitudes against disabled people.โ€

Mr. Mohtar also mentioned that we shall focus on the Health and education for this category in addition to focusing on the social security for this category.

Four years ago, the REHAB Forum launched the first recruitment fair for disabled individuals. The recruitment pavilion was dedicated to recruiting special needs youth of the UAE while providing them with the best professional options in order to select from different employments in private and public organizations who are interested in hiring qualified disabled personnel. This idea was the first of its kind in the Middle East and achieved excellent positive returns on social, psychological and emotional levels. This was made possible due to contributions from the private and public organizations.

In this edition of REHAB, there are three major national associations participating in the recruitment pavilion. These associations aim to help educate, train and employ disabled personnel, through integrating them in the work field.
