Young women with disability demanded political participation in all political parties

Member of NADPO member organization BPKS demanded the inclusion of youth with disabilities, women with disabilities at all organizational levels of the country's political parties in Bangladesh.

On Tuesday (01 March, 2016) at a press conference in the National Press Club lounge on the third floor of the Conference demanded.

6 young women with disability of Bangladesh Protindhi Kallyan Somity (BPKS) highlighted the various demands of women with disability in their favor.

They are Majeda Akhtar, Anika Sultana Akter, nasrina, smrity, Mamata Rani Roy Parvin and Kabita.

Speakers in the press conference discussed that, survey report of World Health Organization and the World Bank shows that, there are around 100 million people with disability in the world. The number of people with disabilities are higher in developing countries. Accordingly, it is estimated that nearly 24 million people with disabilities are living in Bangladesh. Half of whom are women.

One of the young women with disabilities shared that, “We are the most discriminated as young women with disabilities.”

16-point demand was presented to be implemented by the government. Off them, one of the point is about the participation of women with disabilities in every political organizational

In addition, they demanded fund to implement development activities for the young women with disabilities and their respective organizations
