Bangkok Metropolitan Press conference on Van service for Persons with Disabilities and Older Peoples Project

Sukhumbhand Paribatra, Governor of Bangkok jointing the Press release and demonstration of Van service for Persons with Disabilities and Older People who use wheelchairs. M.R. Sukhumbhand Paribatra, chairs a press conference, said that public transport in Bangkok is still not conducive and access for serving the use of Persons with Disabilities and Older People. , In the occasion, Bangkok Metropolitan in cooperation with Krungthep Thanakom Company Limited (BMA’s Enterprise) initiative the Van service for Persons with Disabilities and Older People project, especially who use wheelchairs to support and develop the quality of life of PWDs and Old people Presently, Bangkok has approximately 64,000 to wheelchair users (those with 48,000 to 16,000 people and the elderly) who living in Bangkok City
The van services will start on the 5th of December 2012 with 10 Vans, the van install the hydraulic lift at the back of the van for picking wheelchair up and down also providing 2 spaces for wheelchair and 2seats for people who travelling with.
The fares of service calculate from the distance running plus the service also BMA City will support half of the fare.
Van service regulation:
- Sign up and registation for the service at www.thanakom.co.th (Register starting on 5 December 2012)
- To reservation and book the Van calling by phone 1555, one day in advance
- The service will start from 06.00-24.00 (18 hours)
- Service area is Bangkok and Bangkok's outskirt
