Beautiful poem composed by training participant

We had several days of workshop by APCD Mission in Tashkent with several people with disability in Tashkent. One of the participants composed beautiful poem devoted to APCD resource person Mr. Nabi Ghulam Nizamani who was one of the facilitators of the wrokshop. I tried to translate it into english keeping the contents as accurate as I could, but it was difficult to keep it with the same rhyme as in original language [uzbek]. Thank you and enjoy it, especially Nabi aka!

This poem is the best example of peer support in disability movement. In the translation one word not translated and used as it is to maintain the beauty of the poem is Insha Allah (By Grace of God).

Poem of Shahlo for Nabi

To my Pakistani master

Reading poem of shahlo for Nabi

Nine days and we are one family with you,

We received lots of knowledge and experience from you.

We faced many challenges in this life,

But we didnโ€™t know how to overcome them.

You taught us, guided us, encouraged us,

And you saw our willingness and passion.

You became like a father for some of us,

Brother or friend for all of us.

Now we firmly stand for our goals,

And step ahead through the paths you went.

Inshallah, we will go out to abroad,

And by remembering you, we say:

โ€œHe taught us how to live happily,

Moving ahead without renounce and sadness,

He taught us how to jointly start and achieve

What we thought and dreamed.โ€

And you say: โ€œThey are my pioneers,

They are to me as my siblingsโ€.

When we teach and guide others in future,

You say: โ€œSometimes ago I taught them living betterโ€.

Inshallah, we will prove your trust and expectation,

Maybe we will do dissertation on what you taught us.

We all together make a wish for you,

โ€œHave a long life for our happinessโ€.

My request to you is to keep this poem

For remembering us for sometimes.

And one more my wish to consider,

Come to our country often, We will miss you!
