DPI works to build the capacity of DPO leaders in Bangladesh

Disabled People's International (DPI) supported by ADD Bangladesh is organising a 3 day workshop in Dhaka, Bangladesh from today. Around 40 disability sector leaders from across the country and various DPOs are participating in this workshop. The objective of the workshop is to facilitate Bangladeshi DPOs to understand Universal Periodic Review (UPR) and motivate them to submit a Stakeholder's Report on disability to OHCHR for Bangladesh's upcoming UPR. The workshop will also focus on CRPD and other human rights tools and mechanisms that facilitate and promote disability rights.

Javed Abidi, Chairperson of DPI along with Sherzodbek Sharipov, Human Rights Officer, DPI are in Bangladesh for the workshop.

The workshop is being facilitated by Ellen Walker from the Secretariat of International Disability Alliance (I.D.A.).
